Built on a curving street with steep grades toward the ocean, the site had a feeling of openness from the start. The curves and angles of the design provide a sense of juxtaposition from the
steep hillsides surrounding the home. The owner has a large art collection, and wished for space to showcase his collection. Each piece was carefully measured, so each wall constructed would enhance the beauty of the artwork. The owner also wanted the style of the home to hold its own in relation to the artwork, not competing with it, but to have a sense of flow and unity. The large windows towards the ocean frame the spectacular views west, and give the home a feeling of expansiveness.
